Want your daughter to feel good about herself?

It’s so hard to know what to do when your child doesn’t feel good about herself.  When nothing you say seems to make a difference, remember that what you do has great impact.  At Rites for Girls we’ve found something that makes a huge difference: committing to a monthly Mother-Daughter date!

Rites for Girls facilitator Sophie Beaupain talks about how making special time for just you and your daughter can boost a girl’s self-esteem.

What to do when we can’t go out?

Here are some ideas for what you could do together while in lockdown:
– Mocktail making
– Spa night
– Movie night
– Make a Tik Tok together
– Hair Care – head massage, wash, blow dry, style
– Camp overnight in the garden
– Late night look at the night sky with a thermos of hot chocolate
– Cook or bake together
– Make an obstacle course for your pet
– Doodle art or paint while listening to your favourite music
– Make a playlist of your favourite tracks and have a dance

My daughter wouldn’t want a date with me…

If you can’t imagine your daughter wanting to have a ‘date’ with you, read chapter one of Kim McCabe’s book ‘From Daughter to Woman, parenting girls safely through their teens’ to find out how to make it happen, bringing you closer.

Making memories and boosting your daughter’s self-esteem

Create a precious keepsake as you plan and record your mother-and-daughter dates together every month.

Make our next Mother-Daughter Date diary with us.  Help us to choose themes, decide designs and commission the artwork as well as submitting your own.  Follow the story of what we’ve done so far and join us in making a book together.
