Hi there, my name is Faye and thank you so much for your interest in Rites for Girls. We are so excited that you are interested in this work as we really believe our Girls Journeying Together groups can help make the journey into adolescence safer, supported and more fun for our girls.

So, a little bit about me. I’m a mum to my lovely little girl Daisy, and I work as an engineer, and have my own company which I run part time, enabling me to balance work and parenting.

I was drawn to this work because I didn’t really enjoy growing up very much. I didn’t have very healthy friendships, and I felt very lonely when I had problems at home and at school. Looking back, I can see that a lot of the challenges I experienced could have been better navigated if I had had a supportive group of peers to talk to during the tough times, and a kind adult mentor would have made all the difference.

When I saw that Rites for Girls were looking to train facilitators, I knew this work was for me. I’m so excited that I will get to help guide other girls in their journey to adulthood. I’m really looking forward to helping girls build supportive healthy friendships within our Girls Journeying Together groups, so they won’t feel lonely no matter what they are experiencing in their lives.

In our groups we will talk about the challenges girls face in their lives. We will discuss hopes and dreams for the future, and explore emotions, friendships, relationships and all the issues that a young girl will face in her journey to adulthood. We will teach girls tools to develop resilience and improve and maintain self-esteem. And most importantly, our groups will be fun! A place for creating wonderful friendships and memories that the girls can take with them into adulthood.
